Host Jon D. Brown speaks with Dr. Vashaun O. Williams to discuss M.B.A. (Male – Black – Accountability). This interview is the August 11th edition of the Black Men’s Health Summer Lunch Series.

Dr. Vashaun O. Williams is a Board Certified Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist. He is a leading mental health provider in the Tampa Bay Area at both Gracepoint Wellness mental health center and his private practice, Reaching Maximum Potential, located in Wesley Chapel. Additionally he provides services for a variety of mental health organizations throughout the state of Florida. During his 17 years of psychiatric practice, he has worked in numerous settings and developed expertise in many areas, some of which include childhood disorders, ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, psychosis and sports psychiatry. Dr. Williams has provided expertise in a variety of settings including lecture series, universities, radio and various panels.

Dr. Williams is a native Floridian born in Tallahassee and reared in Sanford. The Seminole High School graduate earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry/Pre Medicine from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. A Doctor of Medicine degree from Morehouse School of Medicine was followed by residency and subspecialty fellowship training at Palmetto Health in Columbia, South Carolina in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, respectively. Dr. Williams currently resides in Wesley Chapel, FL and is married to his wife of 23 years and has 2 children, Alexis and Vashaun, Jr.

Dr. Williams is the son of retired US Air Force Master Sergeant Edgar Williams and former county commissioner and Vice Mayor of Sanford, FL. Dr. Velma Williams. Dr. Vashaun Williams’ church home is First Baptist Church of College Hill in Tampa and his interests include traveling, chess, mentoring and coaching youth sports.
